An understated koshirae

The life of a ronin would be rugged, stoic, and paved through resilience. Miyamoto Musashi, the quintessential avatar for ronin in Japan, was an easy choice when creating an hommage iaito. Simple, practical, and yet elegant, the Musashi Ronin is made for day-in and day-out keiko with a koshirae specifically designed here in Kyoto. 

Specifications

This iaito features the easily recognizable "Musashi" tsuba, the design of which is attributed to Musashi himself. It is said to represent two interlocking circles — a possible link to his school, Niten Ryu. Generally, darker, less reflective color fittings have been selected for everything from the seppa and habaki to the fuchi/kashira and saya. Only subtle gold accents break the darker tones and help to tie each part of this beautiful koshirae together.
